We've similarly highlighted a place or two that we've found over the years that do measure up and one of them was back in 2014 when we featured a place in Uruma City called 50's Cafe (LINKED HERE). As a small mom & pop run organization, it was definitely one of the better places on island, but was hampered by limited parking. I was shocked a few months aback when I drove by and saw the building sitting empty with another "For Rent" sign in front of it. I was afraid that it was just another casualty of Abe-nomics or it's evil American cousin Obama-nomics.
Fortunately my wife and I just so happened to be entertaining a friend visiting us from the states who wanted to take back a bunch of Japanese style snacks to give out as souvenirs from her trip. Not wanting to pay tourist trap prices, we decided to take her to the Don Quixote store in Uruma City, located at the intersection of highway's 85 and 36.
To our happy surprise we found that the 50's cafe was alive and well and located inside the main mall area of the building right by the main entrance.
Anyway, I said all of that to say this. It's great to see these people still in business and I would encourage all of the readers who have the opportunity to do so to go out and try this place out. Yesterday we (Ryukyu Mike) and I happened to be out shooting the wildlife with our cameras and needed to stop in and grab a bite to eat. We made it a point to stop here and boy were we glad we did.
We both went all out and ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger set. It comes with fries and a drink and they didn't go skimpy on anything! All of their burgers are served up with fresh cut lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise all served up on a toasted sesame seed bun. They operate on the K.I.S.S. method. What they say is, "If you don't want any of the above on it, just let us know that when you order!"
The menu is rather simple and posted in plain view for all to see and prices are more than reasonable
If you're going to be in the area and want a burger, this is the place to get it!
